Frequently Asked Questions
Does Olive Branch Cemetery Restoration accept site or project recommendations?
We are always happy to hear about opportunities in which our organization can assist in the restoration of at-risk cemeteries or the preservation of burial information. Please contact Michael Shane Wamsley to discuss potential sites and projects in more detail.
Does Olive Branch Cemetery Restoration accept donations of historical records, registers, and photographs?
Yes, we would be happy to assist in the safekeeping or broader distribution of these items, provided you are legally entitled to loan or relinquish these materials to our organization.
Is your non-profit organization affiliated with a particular religion or faith?
No, it is not. Olive Branch Cemetery Restoration, its board members, and volunteers are commited to respecting the beliefs and traditions of the religious sites and communities that we visit and serve.
My local scout troop, youth group, or honor society is looking for a service project. Can they volunteer for Olive Branch Cemetery Restoration?
Yes, we would be happy to work with you and your group to discuss meaningful volunteer opportunities.
Can an Olive Branch Cemetery Restoration board member come speak to my genealogy society?
Board members live in various states across the country, and are unfortunately not always available to explain our resources in person. If your genealogy society is particularly interested in learning about the Bayside project, contact Michael Shane Wamsley to discuss your request.
If I'm interested in donating, but want my funds to be put toward a certain project, is that an option?
Certainly. If you are donating via PayPal, special requests can be placed in the comment box prior to submission. If you are paying by check or money order, you can include a note to this effect. If a special request is not provided, funds will be dispersed at the discretion of the Board of Directors.
My relative is included in the Bayside Index Card database. Is it possible for me to obtain a digital image of their index card?
Yes, please contact Michael Shane Wamsley with the relevant details. In some cases, proof of relationship may be required to obtain next-of-kin contact information. Requests will be handled in the order in which they are received.
I would like to obtain a higher-resolution image file for a gravestone or cemetery. Can you provide this?
We can certainly check on the availability of a higher-resolution image file, but do not guarantee that one will exist.
